
Trailer thieves damaged a pickup truck while moving it to get to the trailer full of landscape equipment. Orange police were called at 7:14 Saturday morning to the 1600 block of Carter Street off 16th Street. The owner said his Ford F150 pickup had been dragged from the front of his yard to a neighbor’s front yard. The truck had been in the ‘park’ gear and the transmission was damaged. The trailer attached from the truck was stolen. It contained tools and the landscaping equipment.
Orange police reported several other thefts and burglaries during the long holiday weekend.
Saturday morning at 8:16, an employee of the Orange County Teachers Credit Union, 3319 Bowling Lane, reported an attempted burglary. Police said the metal door was damaged with a dent above the dead bolt. Also, the door knob had been removed and was found in the parking lot. However, no one was able to enter the building.
Orange police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a man Saturday morning in the downtown area. The man called 9-1-1 a few minutes before 6 a.m. to say a man came up to him with a pistol and demanded money. The victim was able to run away and was not hurt. The robbery attempt was in the 400 block of Fourth Street across from the post office.
Sunday morning, a resident in the 800 block of West John Avenue reported a break-in with a Samsung stereo system and a set of three decorative mirrors stolen.
Monday morning, a man living in east of the 100 block of West John Avenue reported a red lawnmower was stolen from his backyard. Also, the owners of a travel trailer parked on Circle E in the Roselawn neighborhood reported several items had been taken from the trailer. Monday afternoon, a break-in was reported in the 800 block of Orange Avenue.
