The Orange Police Department is investigating the burglary of a habitation on Monday. Officer Jason Guidroz was dispatched at 3:26 PM to the 2600 block of Allie Payne Road.
The officer spoke with the owner of the residence. Some one had broken into the home when no one was there.
The officer observed the front door had been kicked in by the perpetrator. A small amount of cash was taken according to the owner.
Monday at 10:06 AM, Officer Tim Pruitt was dispatched to the 3300 block of Bowling Lane in reference to the burglary of a vehicle. The officer spoke to the owner of a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck.
The owner informed the officer that his truck had been burglarized sometime Friday night or early Saturday morning. Two chain saws and an Echo leaf blower valued at $1200 were taken from the bed’s camper storage compartment.
Orange Police arrested two men on Sunday morning for stealing catalytic converters from vehicles. Officers were dispatched at 3:20 AM to the Terrace Vine Apartments parking lot at 3819 Meeks Drive.
The officers used two patrol vehicles to block the apartments parking lot’s two entrances. A third vehicle stopped a 2014 Acura that had been observed just leaving the parking lot.
Three suspects in the vehicle matched the description provided by a caller to the police. Johntrell Haynes, John Townes Jr., and a juvenile all from Houston, Texas were in the vehicle.
A search of the Acura by officers found two reciprocating saws and a Ziploc bag with marijuana inside. A check of the trunk found six catalytic converters valued at $300 each that had been cut off from separate vehicles.
One vehicle a gray 2016 Toyota Tundra was found in the Terrace Vine Apartments parking lot to have the catalytic converter removed. The owner was the person that made the initial call for police to investigate a suspicious person walking around the parking lot.
Haynes and Townes were transported to the Orange County Jail. The juvenile was taken to police headquarters where he was released to a family member.
An arrest was made Friday night following a robbery at the Honey Stop at 1012 Park Avenue. Police officers were dispatched at 10:38 PM on Friday to the business in reference to a robbery there.
The suspect in the robbery who had left on foot was described to the officers. A better description of the suspect was obtained and officers located a subject matching the description.
The suspect resisted being detained by the police. A search of his person found money that had been taken in the robbery. The police arrested Michael Ray Gales, age 40, on charges of robbery of a business with no use of a weapon and for the assault of a police officer.
