
Orange police had a 911 call early Sunday morning to the Oakwood Village apartments after a man kicked in a door to an apartment and hit another man in the head with a gun.
The patrol officer reported the 24-year-old victim had blood on his face and had wrapped a shirt around his head. The call to the complex at 1521 North 37th Street came about 1 a.m. A 21-year-old woman was with him.
Medics from the Orange Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance Service treated the man, but did not take him to a hospital.
Monday, Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the victim knew the attacker and is now not cooperating with the investigation.
A 34-year-old man is facing a driving while intoxicated charge after hitting an electrical pole and fence on Park Avenue near 16th Street at 5:40 Saturday morning. Police said the man was taken by Acadian Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for minor injuries.
Orange police are investigating a burglary in the 400 block of Morrell Boulevard in the Navy Park neighborhood. A woman called at 1:50 p.m. Sunday to report the break-in. Police reported finding the back door forced open. Several items worth an estimated $675 total were missing.
To the person that called the police when someone broke into their apartment and assaulted them but will not cooperate with the investigation–Do the community a favor from now on and quit waisting the police and medical groups time as well as tax payers money by protecting the assailant. If an aiding and abetting charge was thrown at people who did this it may not be such a common practice.
