The Orange Police Department is investigating a shooting Tuesday morning at the Sunset Apartments. Captain Robert Enmon said the police were contacted around 6:00 AM Tuesday regarding a shooting at the apartments in the 2800 block of Sunset.
Enmon indicated a 34-year old male was shot in the right thigh. The victim was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont.
According to Enmon a physical disturbance occurred between the victim and two other people before the shot was fired. Police are still attempting to determine who fired the shot, but are receiving limited cooperation from the persons involved. There has not been an arrest made connected to the shooting as of Tuesday afternoon.

Orange Police are investigating a burglary that occurred probably Sunday night or early Monday morning at the St. Mary’s Catholic School on Bob Hall Road. Officer Logan Holland went to the school at 7:47 AM on Monday and reported that an unknown suspect appears to have entered the school’s cafeteria by damaging an exterior door on the south side of the building.
The school principal informed Holland that cabinets, desks, freezers, and refrigerators were opened which caused several food items to spoil. The only item reported missing was an electric knife. There was apparently a surveillance video which will be checked to help identify the suspect.

Monday morning Orange Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Cordrey in reference to a theft at the Entergy substation. Officer Grant McLean spoke with Stuart Greer of Entergy. Greer told McLean that he arrived at the substation at about 9:00 AM on Monday to find the substation had sustained minor damage and was missing some building materials.

Police in Orange recovered a reported stolen vehicle Monday night. Officer Marcus Bernard was dispatched to the 1900 block of Maple at 11:14 PM on Monday. While there Bernard was informed by the owner of a missing Nissan Versa. The vehicle was described as being green and gray with the letters “BC” on the rear windshield. A vehicle matching that description was located unoccupied, unsecured, and undamaged later Monday night on Third Street. The owner of the vehicle told Officer Bernard she did not give consent for a known male suspect to take the vehicle and wished to press charges against him.
