
Churches and houses in Orange are still undergoing repairs from Harvey damage. In November, the City of Orange issued building permits to four churches and three houses.
Harvey repairs are being made at Fellowship Church of Christ, 3800 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive; St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 505 15th Street, and Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 504 John Avenue.
The Orange City Council has extended the policy of not charging permit fees for storm damage rehabilitation.
Brownwood Baptist Church, 2408 Fifth Street, is getting an addition valued at $36,000.
Two permits for new houses were issued. One, valued at $267,000, is being built on Woodway Drive in the Westwood subdivision. The other, valued at $193,100, is on Persimmon Drive in Cypresswood Village subdivision.
Besides the Harvey repairs, four other residential repair permits were issued for a total value of $34,800. In addition, three permits went for residential storage units valued at a total of $9,350. Two houses got new roofs worth a total of $14,200. One residential concrete permit for $2,700 worth of work was issued.
The city had 11 residential demolitions during the month. The addresses are 2912 Byley, 91 Cherry, 707 Levingston, 808 College, 1111 Eighth Street, 1412 Main Street, 1924 and 1930 Barkins, 1925 Simpson, and 603 and 605 North Street.
Two permits were issued for residential fences at a total value of $4,000.
Also, two commercial permits for new mechanical systems (heating and air conditioning). The project at 711 Front Street is valued at $5,500, and new AC and duct work worth $40,000.
