A large crowd showed up Wednesday afternoon for the ribbon cutting for the new City of Orange Recreation Center located on the site of the former Natatorium at the corner of Orange and 14th St.
Mayor Larry Spears said it was God’s vision but it took the council and the city to see it to fruition. The facility features two courts that can be used for things like basketball, volleyball, dodgeball and more.
Recreation Director Anthony Dandridge, who has a staff of nine, announced “The Rec” center will be open Tues-Thurs from 4p-8p, Friday 4-6 and Saturdays 1-5pm.
The Orange Chamber was on hand for the ribbon cutting. N&T Construction built the facility. Architects Inc. designed the building.
