A man from Orange was injured Sunday afternoon during a multiple vehicle crash in Jasper County. Sergeant Stephanie Davis with the Department of Public Safety reported the crash occurred Sunday afternoon at about 4:30 approximately one mile outside of the Jasper city limits on Highway 63.
A Lincoln passenger vehicle traveling eastbound crossed the center dividing line for unknown reason and struck a Pontiac passenger vehicle head-on. A Ford pickup towing a boat and a Ford SUV following the Lincoln also collided in attempts to avoid the first two vehicles in the crash.
Micah Spell, age 19, of Orange was the driver of the Pontiac. He and his passenger Carly Beurskens, age 19, of Kansas were transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening. Two persons from Colmesneil in the Ford SUV were also taken to the Jasper hospital with minor injuries. No one in either the Lincoln or the Ford pickup received injuries.
The driver of the Lincoln Lorenzo Thomas, age 17, of Jasper was issued a traffic citation for failure to drive in a single lane. Sergeant Davis indicated the highway was closed for about one hour.
