The Orange City Council worked through the summer deciding how to spend money for the 2017 budget year and now is the time to get the projects moving.
Tuesday the council will meet at 9 a.m. with the agenda including proposals to give contracts for the new water plant and elevated water tower on Richard Drive off Interstate 10 east of Highway 62.
Public Works Director Jim Wolf is recommending a $1.9 million contract to Allco for the plant and a $1.5 million contract to Landmark for the water tank.
Also the council will discuss where in Sunset Park to put the new skate park. The council is expected to award a contract of $43,300 to Allied Mechanical to lay and finish and 50-foot by 70-foot concrete pad.
The council will also appoint a new member to the city’s economic development corporation. Former councilor and EDC board member Mary McKenna has applied along with lawyer Gail Barnett.
The city’s EDC board will meet at 8:30 a.m. before the council meeting. The board is set to go into a closed-door executive session to discuss a proposed real estate development.
