The Orange City Council Tuesday unanimously approved the preliminary plat for the Cypresswood Village Phase II. The subdivision is off Highway 87 South near FM 105.
Public Works Director Jim Wolf said the city and Orange County Drainage District have been working with ITEX, the subdivision’s developer, to assure proper drainage and that runoff does not affect existing neighborhoods. Wolf said plans include a detention pond.
The council also voted to buy the Orange Police Department two 2018 Ford F-150 pickup trucks from Sabine River Ford in Orange. Police Chief Lane Martin said the council had budgeted for the trucks.
He said he got bids on the trucks from the Houston-Galveston Area Council, a government purchasing co-operative. He found that Sabine River Ford could match the price within 5 percent of the co-op. The city allows purchases from businesses within the city limits if the price is within 5 percent of an out-of-town price.
