
Orange police recovered two new stolen TVs after noticing one of the boxes in a neighbor’s backyard. The 63-year-old neighbor was arrested for burglary and taken to the Orange County Jail.
Officers went to the 600 block of Bridal Wreath in the Roselawn neighborhood about 9 p.m. after the resident returned to find the front door to the house was open. The resident said she had recently moved there. A 50-inch Hisense TV and a 55-inch TLC in their boxes had been taken from the house.
Officer J.R. Casey reported another officer saw one of the boxes in the backyard of a house. He then saw a woman open the garage to that house and another TV box was in the garage.
One of the friends of the victim said she had gone by her friend’s and saw an older man pushing a TV box away. She identified the man as being at the neighbor’s house. Officer Casey reported the serial numbers on the TVs matched the victim’s receipt.
Anthony Dean Vigas was arrested for burglary and taken to the Orange County Jail.
Orange Family Eye Care, 2401 16th Street, had several thousand dollars of designer eye glass frames stolen Friday morning. Police went to the store about 9:30 a.m. An employee said a woman came into the store and put the frames into a bag. She then walked out without paying for them.
Thefts from vehicles were reported Sunday morning at the Holiday Inn Express, 2655 Interstate 10. An employee of RBT Construction said items had been stolen from two work trucks parked at the hotel.
A South Carolina woman in a red Camaro was arrested Saturday morning during a chase that started in Louisiana. Officer M.T. Roush said he was on patrol and notified Louisiana State Police were chasing the 2015 Camaro westbound on Interstate 10. The car had been traveling 105 miles per hour.
Roush joined the chase, but the car would not stop. He reported the Camaro was going 75 mph and finally officers surrounded the car and it stopped.
The woman would not open the door for police and one broke out the passenger side window and unlocked the door. Amelida Estefani Lazo of Coward, South Carolina, was arrested for evading police and taken to the Orange County Jail.
