Police Saturday morning were called about a burglary at a house in the 2600 block of Country Club Drive. The resident said someone broke into the house while he was asleep and took a computer plus money from a wallet.
Police reported the burglar got inside by breaking a bedroom window from the backyard. The computer was found in another bedroom and the wallet was also recovered.
A man arrested for possession of methamphetamine had to be taken to a Port Arthur hospital after he appeared to have a seizure in the police vehicle. The man was taken by ambulance to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas and then cleared medically to be taken to the Orange County Jail.
29-year-old Matthew Joseph Fontenot faces a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. Police said he also had warrants for non-payment of fines to West Orange Municipal Court.
Patrol Officer Williams reported he saw a pickup truck parked in the southeast corner of the Memorial Fields parking lot at 11:35 Friday night. He said the man inside had his head back and looked asleep. The officer reported the patrol vehicle lights did not wake the man and he had to knock on the window several times to get the man’s attention.
During a frisk, the officer found a small plastic baggie with crystal methamphetamine. He arrested the man and was taking him to jail. When the man appeared to have a seizure, the officer called for the fire department and Acadian Ambulance.
