A shoplifter Monday afternoon stole a Stihl chainsaw from Childs Ace Hardware, 3704 16th Street. Orange police report the thief went into the store through a side door, picked up the chainsaw, and left through the same side store. The missing power tool is a Stihl MS462C-M with a 20-inch bar.
Two people were arrested for possession of heroin after police conducting a traffic stop found the drug inside the car. Orange narcotics officers reported stopping a blue Dodge pickup truck at 1:17 p.m. after seeing the truck make two lane changes on 16th Street without giving a signal. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the heroin was 0.5 grams (aoubt one-tenth of a teaspoon) with a street value of about $100.
47-year-old Michael Nelson Helmer and 42-year-old Courtney Rene Griggs, both of Orange, were arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
