On Saturday, August 16, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop in the 17000 block of the eastbound service road of IH-10 in Vidor.
After initially coming to a stop, the driver of the vehicle suddenly accelerated and fled from the deputies at a high rate of speed. As the deputies pursued the fleeing vehicle, the suspect drove recklessly along the eastbound lanes of the interstate, creating extreme danger for other motorists and law enforcement. During the pursuit, the suspect fired two rounds from a handgun.
The pursuit continued eastbound on IH-10, with the suspect’s vehicle reaching speeds of up to 115 miles per hour. The chase crossed into Louisiana, where the fleeing vehicle eventually crashed into a telephone pole in Vinton. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers with the Vinton Police Department. The suspect was identified as Logan Stark, 26, of Orange County, Texas. Stark was taken into custody and transported to the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center.
A search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine, marijuana, live ammunition, two spent .45 caliber shell casings, a gun cleaning kit, and a holster. Stark was also confirmed to have active warrants through the Texas Board of Pardon and Parole in Austin, as well as through Orange County.
Sheriff Bobby Smith commended the deputies for their courage under extremely dangerous circumstances and expressed gratitude to assisting agencies.
“This suspect showed a complete disregard for human life by fleeing at excessive speeds and discharging a firearm during the pursuit,” Sheriff Smith said. “Thanks to the bravery and professionalism of our deputies, along with our law enforcement partners in Orange and Louisiana, this dangerous individual is now in custody.”
Stark will face criminal charges in Calcasieu Parish before being brought back to Texas to face additional criminal charges.
