Father Jim Sichko, a Papal Missionary of Mercy on assignment from Pope Francis, made a special announcement involving a unique partnership between a Kentucky Proud Product and Delta Air Lines, Inc. on Wednesday night in Lexington, Kentucky.
In memory of his beloved mother, Father Jim, has created a line of spaghetti sauce inspired by Marie Sichko’s recipe known as “Miss Marie’s Spaghetti Sauce.” All product proceeds help feed the poor in Appalachia through the Diocese of Lexington and assist the needs of Southeast Texas Hospice in his hometown of Orange, Texas.
On Wednesday evening, Delta Air Lines, Inc. joined with Father Jim to announce some Delta Sky Clubs (CVG, DETROIT, BOSTON and 8 Delta Sky Clubs in ATL) will begin serving the sauce.
“We’re delighted that we’re going to start serving Miss Marie’s Spaghetti Sauce in some of our Sky Clubs,” Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta, said. “I know this is something that is very close to Father Jim’s heart. I know there’s tremendous good that he’s been able to do with the proceeds from Miss Marie’s Sauce and I could not be happier that we, together, will be able to bring to our customers what we know is special about you and your family and the connection that we share.”
“I am so thrilled to hear that Miss Marie’s Sauce is going to be in the Delta Sky Club,” John Laughter, COO of Delta, added. “You know, that’s a pretty big feat, in and of itself, to work your way into the Sky Club and to be part of doing something great with Delta people, with Delta customers.”
But the big announcement doesn’t end there. Two major check presentations, $10,000 each, were made Wednesday evening to Southeast Texas Hospice and the Catholic Diocese of Lexington. Additionally, some area chefs, who have worked so hard during the pandemic, will receive a surprise they have no idea is coming: 2 RT Delta Air Line tickets for each chef to any U.S. Delta Air Line destination of their choice.
Bishop John Stowe of the Diocese of Lexington, Mary McKenna of Southeast Texas Hospice, Chef Ouita Michels, Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles, and representatives of Delta Air Lines, Inc. joined Father Jim for the revelation of this historic partnership as a wing and a prayer combine to spread the news of this mission to help those in need.
