Orangefield High School students had an exciting and eye-opening experience at the Junior Achievement Finance Park program. This interactive, real world financial education initiative helps high school students build essential money management skills through both classroom learning and a hands-on budgeting simulation.
During the simulation, students were assigned a career, income level, family scenario, and monthly expenses. They were then challenged to create and balance a realistic budget while making real life financial decisions related to housing, transportation, groceries, education, childcare, healthcare, and savings. Students navigated various stages of life, from their teenage years through young adulthood, working adulthood, and nearing retirement. Many quickly discovered how easy it is to underestimate expenses and how fast a paycheck can be spent.
The Orangefield High School Senior students would like to thank Mrs. Jennifer Womack from Junior Achievement for sponsoring Finance Park and to the local businesses that supported our students throughout this valuable learning experience: Stellar Bank, Capital One Bank, and Entergy. Your partnership helps prepare us for a successful financial future.
