Bridge City Police Chief Paul Davis said Officer Becky Joiner had a “slight injury to an elbow” Tuesday after her patrol car was involved in a crash on Texas Avenue. He said the officer was taking evasive action to avoid a vehicle that pulled in front of her patrol car.
The collision was about 5 p.m. during the rush hour on the main thoroughfare. Traffic was blocked for about an hour.
Chief Davis said Officer Joiner and another officer were answering a call but they were not traveling for an emergency. The Dodge Charger patrol car was moving to the center lane when another vehicle pulled in front of the police. Officer Joiner swerved into the opposite lane of traffic to avoid a wreck with the first car. The Dodge hit a Chevrolet Tahoe.
Chief Davis said the people in both vehicles had only minor injuries.
