Starting Monday April 2, the Orangefield school district will begin all classes five minutes earlier than normal and end classes five minutes later each day.
Superintendent Dr. Stephen Patterson said in a letter to parents that the inclement weather this year has the district needing more instructional minutes to meet the state minimum. The state requies 75,600 minutes of class each school year.
He said the district has waivers and used other accrued minutes but will need the extra time. The extra minutes each day will continue through the end of the school year on May 31.
At the board meeting Monday, Deanna Rice and Marci Butler were recognized for being Teachers of the Year and Reaud Award winners. Pictured with Supt. Dr. Stephen Patterson.
Sure miss Mickey Gentry, he would say like cutting a foot off the blanket and sewing it back on the top.
