Orange County Emergency Management showed off its newest piece of equipment Tuesday after the Commissioners Court meeting. Emergency Management Coordinator Joel Ardoin gave the Commissioners Court an up close look at the new airboat purchased for his department through a hazard mitigation grant.
The airboat is similar to one used by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Both airboats were built by the American Airboat Corporation located in Orange.
Ardoin said the airboat will be housed at the bus barn on FM 1442 near the Emergency Management Office at the Convention and Expo Center. The airboat can be used in rescue and search operations during high water events in the county.
