Sales across Orange County were strong in November when the Christmas buying season began. Entities collecting sales taxes mostly had increases from November 2020. The exceptions were the city of West Orange and the county, which had miniscule decreases of less than 1 percent.
The Texas Comptroller’s Office has sent the November sales tax payments to the entities. The “year to date” payments in January are the same as the monthly payments because the month is the first of the year.
The payments are:
Bridge City (1.5 percent tax): $140,000 for the month compared to $130,500 for last year, an increase of 7.24 percent.
Orange (1.5 percent tax): $406,000 for the month compared to $367,000 last year, an increase of 10.59 percent.
Pinehurst (1.5 percent tax): $56,330 for the month compared to $51,400 last year, an increase of 9.58 percent.
Vidor (1.5 percent tax): $273,725 for the month compared to $247,620 last year, an increase of 10.54 percent.
West Orange (1.25 percent tax): $98,150 for the month compared to $98,473 last year, a decrease of 0.32 percent.
Orange County (0.5 percent tax): $451,700 for the month, compared to $455,950 last year, a decrease of 0.93 percent.
