A man from Vidor was killed as a result of a one-vehicle crash in Jasper County on Friday. The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the single vehicle crash at about 12:15 PM on FM 1131 near County Road 873 just south of FM 105 in Jasper County.
Troopers report that a Chevrolet passenger vehicle was traveling northbound on FM 1131 at a slow rate of speed. A 2014 Nissan SUV was also traveling northbound on FM 1131 and attempted to avoid rear-ending the slower moving vehicle by veering to the left, but the driver lost control of his vehicle. The Nissan traveled off the roadway and struck a concrete culvert before flipping over several times coming to rest in a ditch.
Ricky Lee Munson, age 69, of Vidor was extracted from the wrecked vehicle and taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with serious injuries. Munson was pronounced deceased by emergency room personnel later Friday afternoon. The crash remains under investigation by the Department of Public Safety.
