An Orange County man has been indicted by a Jefferson County Grand Jury after leading officers on a chase that reached 140mph.
According to court records, in the afternoon of March 26, uniformed officers observed a 2013 silver Audi traveling westbound on I-10 near the 854 mile marker at a speed of 105mph in a 55mph zone. Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over as he dangerously began weaving in and out of traffic. He took the Laurel Street exit and made a U-turn, getting back on I-10 eastbound.
He went through a construction zone and a parking lot of a McDonald’s before getting back on the interstate at speeds over 140mph. The driver took several exits in Orange County only to get back on ten, endangering the lives of many innocent people.
As he crossed FM1132 he attempted to cross several lanes and struck a Ford Explorer and ended up in a ditch where he was taken into custody.
He was identified as Tommy Lewis Perkins, 22, who lives off of FM1442 in Orange County. He was arrested and charged with Felony Evading Arrest with a Vehicle.
