
Recent inspections between mid-May and June from the Orange County Health Department. Inspectors targeted many convenience stores in the area.
Charge Up #71 at 811 Strickland received an 87.
They pulled several expired food items off the sales floor shelves and reach in cooler. Soda machine needs to be cleaned of build up and mildew. Ice machine needs to be cleaned of slime and mildew. Drinks being stored directly on the floor n the walk in drink cooler and storage room. All food/supplies must be stored 6 inches off the ground. Walk in drink cooler ceilings and floors need to be cleaned of all old build up and debris. Sales floor shelves need to be cleaned.
OXXO Fuels at 13535 Highway 62 N received an 83.
Found can of nacho cheese being stored in it’s original container with saran wrap over it inside the walk in cool in cooler. Found open bags of chicken nuggets and taquitos in reach in deep freezer. All foods need to be closed when being stored. Chicken and shrimp being stored above vegetables in reach in freezer. Container of chicken being stored on top of container of salad in reach in fridge. Container of marinated meat being stored above veggies in walk in cooler.
M & S Grocery at 10876 FM 1130 received at 81.
Pulled several expired foods and drinks from sales floor shelves. Soda machine and icy machine needs to be cleaned of old food residue and dead bugs/nats. Faucet in kitchen prep area sprays water everywhere when turned on. Needs to be fixed immediatley. Found several dead roaches, nats and other insects throughout establishment. Found drinks being stored on the floor on sales floor. All drinks must be stored 6 inches off the ground. Several pieces of old equipment need to be removed from the establishment. Does not have current food permit hanging up.
Main Street Market #363 at 333 Lutcher Dr. was temporarily closed.
Inspectors found that there is a rodent infestation. A dead mouse was found in the cabinet under the soda machine, rodent droppings found everywhere and several food items had been eaten by rodents. As the inspector was showing the cashier things that needed to be done a live mouse ran across the sales floor resulting in temporary closure. Store was reopened days later after receiving report from pest management company.
Lone Star Grocery at 3665 N Main St in Vidor had it’s deli closed temporarily.
During inspection there was no hot water in the deli and it was shut down. Repairs were made and deli allowed to reopen four days later. Pulled several items off sales floor shelves that were expired. Cappuccino machine needs to be cleaned of old food/debris build up. Oil being stored above drinks on sales floor. Establishment bags it’s own ice. Labels needed on the ice bags with establishment name and address. Found several nats coming out of the sink drain at 3 compartment sink. Tiles in back storage room need to be repaired immediately.
Market Basket Deli on 16th St. in Orange received an 81.
Inspectors pulled several things of expired meat out of the deli meat display. Food being stored above eggs in walk in cooler. Food in reach in fridge and walk in cooler need dates on it. No paper towels at the hand washing sink in kitchen prep area. Employees personal items being stored on shelves with food items. Icing being stored on the ground in back kitchen area. Bucket of chicken being stored on the ground in walk in cooler. All outside of kitchen equipment needs to be cleaned of old food/debris build up. Reach in fridge needs to be cleaned of old food/debris. Venti hood needs to be cleaned of grease build up.
