
Forecasters were certain that inches of rain would fall in Southeast Texas on Friday, but Orange County was spared of the heavy rain but not the winds.
If you didn’t lose power at all on Friday you were one of the few as strong winds went through the area, causing outages, mostly from fallen trees and limbs. The National Weather Service said some gusts were well over 40 mph.
A building on the Orangefield ISD campus lost its roof and Western Ave. in West Orange saw outages at both ends of the street. One in front of the Whispering Oaks Apartments and the other on the east end by the sewer plant. It was also reported to the winds caused two lines to touch, causing an outage in Little Cypress area.
