The National Weather Service office in Lake Charles Louisiana has conducted January 24 storm surveys across Jefferson & Orange counties in Southeast Texas, Calcasieu and Beauregard parishes in Southwest Louisiana, with the survey results below.
Survey Summary:
An EF-1 tornado touched down just south of Highway 73, and tracked into the Taylor Landing community. Weak damage to roofs were common, along with uprooted trees and destroyed privacy fences. The tornado ended somewhere in the Taylor Bayou marsh downstream from Taylor Landing.

A brief tornado developed over the Bessie Heights Marsh producing
damage to trees and roofs from Nora circle across Round Bunch
road, Edgar Drive to Turner Road. The tornado damage electrical
transmission lines as it weakened before Bessie Heights Road.

An EF2 tornado touched down along Orangefield Road and tracked into areas northwest of Orangefield High School. There were frame homes and mobile homes that were heavily damaged in this area, indicative of 120 mph winds. This area was the most intense segment of this tornado. The tornado continued along the northern fringes of West Orange and Orange, before impacting neighborhoods
in Little Cypress. The tornado then tracked across the Sabine River near the end of West Bluff Road. It`s possible that this tornado remained in tact all the way through the Sabine River Swamp and correlates with damage surveyed in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.
Survey Summary:
An EF1 tornado is either a continuation of the Orange County, Texas Tornado, or touched down in the Sabine River Swamp, and impacted portions of western and central Calcasieu Parish. The tornado damaged trees in Nibletts Bluff Park, then tracked along Wright Road. Several homes, RVs, and mobile homes experienced heavy damage. Two mobile homes were destroyed along with numerous trees snapped and uprooted. This area along Wright Road experienced the strongest winds, estimated at 110 mph. The tornado weakened and tracked northeast near the Sabine River Diversion System and lifted near the Big Woods area.
