by Newton Co. Sheriff Billy Rowles
It’s easy to do this report when everything is good or kind of silly. It’s not
much fun when me or my guys mess up, we did. We had a prisoner walk out of our
jail. We made a couple of mistakes. Some I take responsibility for, other was a
faulty door. All has been fixed. Misdemeanor charges are now a felony charge.
We all honor our First Responders. Lot of things have been said and done for
them and they are all deserving,
Let me add a group to the honorees. The Telecommunication Operators are
the reason the First Responders are there to help you.
Newton County Telecommunications Operators are the best. They send help
to you when you need them (police officers, firemen and ambulances, etc.). They
book prisoners in and out of jail and all the problems some of them create. They
also are charged with baby- sitting! all the officers that are working and making sure
we get home safe after our shift. From the bottom of our heart. we say “Thank You”.
Now let’s see what else has been going on. Chief Deputy Cynthia Hall and Sgt.
Laird went on a call about a large snake in a lady’s closet. ft was gone when they got
there. If it was my house, I’d move:
We recovered a stolen 4-wheeler in the south end. Witnesses said a Toyota
“gray or silver with black fender extensions”, pulled it from the owner’s home. We
got some information on who may have stolen it Need more. Any help would be
appreciated.
Ms. Francis Malone called and said someone stole her gray Ford tailgate from
her pump house, She wanted me to tell whoever stole it to bring it back. She said
she would make them a good deal on the rest of the truck.
A man caught a thief trying to steal his air conditioner Saturday night
Homeowner confronted the thief and was cut on the hand. We are still trying to
locate the thief. Any information would be appreciated.
Thought for the week: Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes.
Ya’ll have a good week and if we can help, just hollar. God Bless.
