Fugitive Arrest in Trout Creek:
On Saturday, August 30, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard and Deputy C.J. Forsythe conducted a traffic stop on State Highway 87 near FM 1004 for an equipment violation. Contact was made with the driver, Prentice Rosemon Jr. A driver’s license check of Rosemon revealed that he had several warrants for his arrest. Rosemon was placed under arrest and transported to the Newton County Jail without incident and booked in for the following warrants:
– Bond Forfeiture (Aggravated Assault D/W)
– Bond Forfeiture (Poss. C/S)
– Failure to Appear (Prohibited Weapon)
Sheriff’s Sale:
There will be a Delinquent Property Tax Sale at the Newton County Courthouse on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM. You must register to bid prior to the sale. The deadline to register was August 28, 2025. Going forward, we plan to announce these sales when we are notified of the Date of Sale.
Calls for Service:
We answered 61 calls for service last week and booked 8 individuals into the Newton County Jail. We currently have 26 inmates housed in the following facilities: 6 in Beauregard Parish, 8 in Jasper, and 12 in Newton.
