On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a resident reporting a theft in progress at his home in the 11000 block of FM 1416 in the Biloxi Community. The caller informed NCSO dispatchers that he was pursuing the suspect and eventually chased him into a nearby hunting club, where he lost sight of him. Newton County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene and began searching for the suspect but were unsuccessful in locating him. The complainant reported a push-mower, air compressor and a weed eater stolen from his residence. Deputies immediately began investigating the incident and, during the investigation, identified the suspect as Derrick Holman. Deputies were already aware that Holman was wanted in Newton County for Criminal Trespassing and in Orange County for Bond Forfeiture. On Thursday, July 31, 2025, at approximately 7:00 a.m., Sheriff Havard was patrolling County Road 4570 when he spotted Holman walking along the road. Holman was taken into custody and transported to the Newton County Jail on the two outstanding warrants. Shortly thereafter, deputies presented evidence to Judge Connie Smith, who issued a search warrant for Holman’s residence. Deputies executed the search warrant and recovered the stolen push
mower and air compressor hose from his residence. Holman will be facing additional charges for Theft of
Property.
