Arrest in Deweyville:
On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, a Newton County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling the Deweyville community, when he conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle with no license plates. The deputy made contact with the operator, Charles Robert Collins, who was found to not have a driver’s license. Collins was placed under arrest for Driving While License Invalid and transported to the Newton County Jail.
Fatal Crash in the Trout Creek community:
On Saturday, May 3, 2025, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Texas Department of Public Safety with a crash investigation on State Highway 87 just south of the Trout Creek Community. Please join me in prayer for the Barlow family during this difficult time.
NCSO Assists Dequincy PD with vehicle pursuit:
On Sunday, May 4, 2025, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a vehicle pursuit coming into Texas from Louisiana on Highway 12. Newton County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area and assisted in the vehicle pursuit, which eventually ended in Vidor with the suspect going to jail. Great job by all agencies involved.
Calls for Service:
We answered 61 calls for service last week and booked 4 individuals into the Newton County Jail. We currently have 24 inmates housed in the following facilities: 3 in Beauregard Parish, 7 in Jasper, and 14 in Newton.
