We met with radio contractors in Deweyville last week to discuss the new radio tower being installed. We are grateful that we are in the process of getting a new tower, which will tremendously improve our radio communications.
On Friday night, the Newton County Fair started. I had the pleasure of being one of the guests to speak during the opening ceremony. It’s always great to see everyone come together to support community events.
We received a call over the weekend from a man who said there were people outside his home threatening to kill him. Deputies arrived and did not locate anyone at his house. Fortunately, he didn’t go outside before the deputies arrived.
The Newton County Sheriff’s Office answered 62 calls for service last week and booked 5 individuals into the county jail. As of Monday morning, we have 22 inmates in the following jails: 6 in Jasper, 2 in Beauregard Parish, and 14 in Newton. Thought for the week: Big journeys begin with small steps.
