Jail Transports:
NCSO made 4 transports. 3 Transports from NCSO to JCSO, 1 transport from NCSO to Kirbyville.
Jail Population: We currently have 19 inmates in the following Jails, 11 housed in Newton, 8 housed in Jasper.
Traffic on FM 1416: On May 18, 2023, we held a meeting for residents that live in Bon Wier, Sandjack, Biloxi, Belgrade and Fawil who are interested in formal a neighborhood Watch Program. During the meeting we covered all the steps in organizing a community watch program with the attendees. One of the measures suggest the group identified three top concerns from their area. They are Speeding, 18 Wheelers wide loads and speeding, and Drugs. This past week we also received complaints from Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) employees about wide loads traveling on FM1416. We notified DPS, and later observed numerous trucks that were overloaded and speeding. The following information is provided to ensure there is no ambiguity about FM 1416 load limits:
FM 1416 a load limited road; maximum weight limit is 58,420 pounds for the length of the road from Highway 87 to Highway 190 in Bon Wier. Loaded trucks should not be traveling on FM1416, and certainly no, “oversized loads” as this would violate their permit. Oversized loads should remain on State Highways, (i.e., Hwy 190 and Hwy 87). Loaded trucks can travel FM 363 because it has no posted weight limits on it. No citations were issued by this agency, and enforcement regarding this category are done by the State. I have provided the information to the public to inform and to aid ensuring public safety on our roadways.
Over axle/over gross weight tolerance permits: TxDMV issues annual over axle/over gross weight tolerance permits for the movement of divisible commodities. Vehicles, alone or in combination, may exceed the allowable axle wight by a tolerance of 20 percent and may exceed the gross weight by a tolerance of five percent. Tolerances are above the maximum allowed for the particular vehicle or combination and are enforced based on the “outer bride” distance, not the vehicle’ registered weight. This permit does not exempt any owner, motor carrier, operator, or driver from complying with any statue, regulation, rule, order, or other legal requirement not specifically referenced in Transportation Code, Section 623.011 or 43 Texas Administrative Code, Section 219.30. Vehicles and/or vehicle combinations may not exceed Texas legal size limits.
Additional Requirements
You may not operate your vehicle on a load-posted bridge if the gross weight of the vehicle and load, or the axles and wheel loads, are greater than the established and posted limits, unless the bridge provides the only public vehicular access to or from your origin or destination.
COMMUNITY WATCH MEETING: On June 15, 2023, at 7p.m at Hughes Outreach Center at 10602 Hwy 190 East in Bon Wier. On May 18, 2023, we held our first meeting for residents that live in Bon Wier, Sandjack, Biloxi, Belgrade and Fawil. We will discuss the top three issues identified in our first meeting. Public is welcome.
