Calls To Services (May 15, 2023, to May 21, 2023): The Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) answered 61 calls to service.
Jail Transports:
NCSO made 4 transports. 1 Transport from NCSO to Goree Unit. 2 Transports from Hardin County to NCSO. 1 Transport from NCSO to Cypress Creek.
Jail Population: We currently have 18 inmates in the following Jails, 9 housed in Newton, 9 housed in Jasper.
2023 NEWTON HORSE CAMP: Newton County Sheriff’s Office will host our 2023 2nd Annual Horse Camp for youths. The Session 1will be held on May 23, 24, and 25 from 0800-1200 noon each day. BON WIER’s COMMUNITY WATCH MEETING: On Thursday May 18th 2023 Newton County Sheriff’s Office held a startup meeting to organize a neighborhood watch program. The location was the Hughes Outreach Center at 10602 highway 190 East in Bon Wier, it started at 6:00 p.m. This was a very successful meeting and residents from Sandjack, Belgrade were in attendance. The next meeting will be posted soon, and will be included in an upcoming press release.
