NEWTON CO. SHERIFF’S REPORT
By Sheriff Billy Rowles
01/08/2018
It has been a very busy week with some positive results. I like cold weather, but
It has been too cold. Glad to see it warm up some.
My hat goes off to Chief Deputy Hall, Deputy Hopson, and CPL Laird for their good work in recovering several stolen guns. These stolen guns were recovered and two arrest were made Friday. All together the Newton and Jasper County Sheriff’s Office’s recovered over 20 stolen guns. Three people have been arrested. It’s fun working with
that Jasper County bunch.
We have been working with Orange County Sheriff’s Office on a drug deal in South
end of the county. It came to a head last week and lots of money was seized along with a couple pounds of dope. More details later.
We have been kind of short handed because of the flu. We had several working while they were sick. Some times you have to do what you have to do. Most of us are better now.
We had several reports of kids being kids the last week or so. School starts back today and maybe these calls will slow down.
We had several break-ins last week. Very few serial numbers were given for stolen items. Please record all property serial numbers. Having the serial numbers helps us get your property back.
Gotta Go. Thought for the week: The elevator to success is out of order. You have to use the stairs…one step at a time. Ya’ll have a good week and if we can help, just holler. God Bless.
