Orange County Commissioners voted Tuesday on a proposal that could allow the county to repair and then maintain the roads in Battlin Bear Estates off FM1078.
Precinct One Commissioner Johnny Trahan said, “We will send out ballots by certified mail (1 vote per lot). If the majority of the residents vote yes, they will have five years to pay out $3506 that will be used to buy the material to repair the roads to county standards. The county will pay for the labor.”
A public hearing was held before the vote and Trahan said a number of residents showed up, all in support of the idea with the help of Chapter 253 of the Texas Transportation Code.
