
It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Nancy Johnston Winnon, who departed this life on Monday, June 2, 2025, in Orange, Texas, at the age of 62. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Nancy lived a life centered on family, compassion, and quiet strength.
Born on February 2, 1963, in Monroe, Louisiana, Nancy was one of six children to Ben and Carolyn Johnston of Bastrop, Louisiana. After living in Bastrop, she later moved to Orange, Texas.
Nancy graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a degree in speech therapy and went on to serve as a speech therapist in various school districts for many years, touching the lives of countless children with her patience, encouragement, and care.
Nancy was a devoted Catholic and long-time active member of St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church in Orange, Texas.
A woman of many passions, Nancy found great joy gardening in her flowerbeds and enjoying various outdoor adventures. She loved traveling with her husband and spending time with her precious grandchildren. She also had a creative gift for sewing, and especially a heart for service, always volunteering where help was needed.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Ben L. Johnston, and her brothers Benjamin Johnston, and Daniel Johnston.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Kelly Winnon; her two daughters, Holly Winnon Blom and Caroline Winnon Hughes; her cherished grandchildren, Adaline, Nathan, Nico, Lila, Willow, Lennon, and Bindi who brought endless joy to her life; and her mother, Carolyn Johnston. She is also survived by her sisters Amanda Johnston Babb of Houston, Texas, Caroline Johnston Dennis of Tyler, Texas, and Mary Johnston Weller of Alabama.
Nancy’s greatest legacy is the family she nurtured and the love she shared so generously with everyone around her.
A memorial service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 6, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 4300 Meeks Dr., Orange, Texas 77632. A visitation will take place at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. Arrangements were made under the care of Dorman
