Renaldo Rose returned the opening kick off for a touchdown and that set the tone for the WOS Mustangs as they cruised to a 76-3 win over Huntington Thursday night in 4A D2 bi-district round action.
The win was the most points scored in a playoff game for the storied Mustangs and it tied the mark for margin of victory. The 2016 State Champs opened the playoffs with a 73-0 win over Tarkington.
Freshman Elijah Gales lead a rushing attack that rolled up 487 of their nearly 600 yards of offense. Gales had 205 yards with four touchdowns.
WOS did a great job of spreading the wealth. Eight different Mustangs scored. After Gales’ three, Jamarcus Ross had two, and then scores by Rose, Justin Sibley, Kavyn Cooper, Jerren Terrell, Chavon Crawford, and Jayson Zeigler.
The game ended with a running clock in the fourth quarter. Huntington was making their first appearance in a postseason game and it’s one they surely won’t forget.
WOS will play Sweeny at 1:30pm, Friday, Nov. 23 back at Texan Drive Stadium.
