The Celebration of Life for Ms. Lucinda Allen, 84, of Orange, will be Saturday at 11am at the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
Rites of Christian Burial will follow in Magnolia Memorial Gardens under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 until 11 am.
Lucinda Arabella Allen was born January 7, 1936 in San Augustine, TX to Mr. Willie Sr. and Mrs. Ideria Nash Allen.
In 1945 the family moved to Orange, TX. A 1958 graduate of Emma H. Wallace High School, she later attended Chenier Business College in Beaumont, TX.
During her working years she was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the former Orange Memorial Hospital and layer moving to Houston, TX she was employed in the Dry-Cleaning business.
In 1971 she returned to Orange to take care of mom and dad. She did a very good job until their passing.
She then became the nurse of the family and being the oldest, she became momma to all the family. Everyone looked up to her, she was a good sister, auntie, and “good servant of the Lord”.
On Tuesday, March 10, 2020 God in His infinite wisdom and never-failing compassion, called Cindy home. She entered eternal “rest”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, Willie G., Sherman, Clinton and Clyde (fraternal twins) and Thearon Allen and her sister, Lee F. Abrams.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories 3 sisters, Gloria J. Carter and Margie M. Degay and husband James, both of Orange, and Verlie Williams and husband Donald of Houston, TX, 1 brother, Walter Glenn Allen and wife Tiffany of Houston, TX, her Godchildren, Darrell Carter, Vonti Allen, Xavier Degay, Jason Degay, and Jermaine Degay and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She loved her family and took good care of all of them as best she could. She was just like momma to the family.
