Two LCM Bears announced Wednesday that they will be trying football at the next level. LCM Coach Eric Peevey thinks both players have the ability to excel there.
Brady Wright is going to McNeese as a Preferred Walk On and Da’Marion Morris is headed to Division III Mary Hardin-Baylor which has won two National Championships in recent years.
Wright, an All-District and All-KOGT member, changed positions on the offensive line this season, becoming the center, and Peevey said he didn’t miss a beat.
“He picked it up and became the anchor of the line and his accolades proved it,” he said. “Brady got in the weight room, took off some of the bad weight and put on some good weight. But he hasn’t hit his ceiling yet. I think his best is yet to come and McNeese will get that out of him.”
Morris has been Mr. Everything for the Bears in Peevey’s first two seasons. He put him back at running back where he belonged and moved him from safety to cornerback and he was All-District at both positions and All-KOGT Offensive Player of the Year.
“Da’Marion was the ultimate team player,” Peevey said, “He did whatever we asked of him and never complained. He was the face of our program and he didn’t necessarily ask to be that. It’s a big responsibility but he responded, and I expect him to do the same at UMHB.”
