Orange native Sam Moore is back in the third base box as the head baseball coach of the Sulphur Tors. Moore spent last season with the Tors as an assistant coach and helped them reach the State Quarterfinals.
Moore started his head coaching career in Louisiana after graduating from West Orange-Stark in 1982 and playing college ball at La. Tech in Ruston.
He was the head coach at Iowa High School and in Vinton before coming home to Texas. He was an assistant at Little Cypress-Mauriceville before head coaching the Mustangs and the Bridge City Cardinals.
Moore took time away from coaching to go into private business but returned to high school coaching two years ago to assist Chad Landry at BC.
“It such a great opportunity for me,” Moore said. “Sulphur baseball has some great support from the community and we have a good group of kids coming back after a good run last year.”
