Bridge City graduate Izzy Moore was a member of several teams when she was a Cardinal. She’s now joined a new team at Texas A&M and she couldn’t be more excited.
With more than 100 applications and only six spots available, Moore was selected to join the Diamond Darlings with the Aggie baseball program.
“I was real excited when I found out I made the team,” Moore said. Part of the requirements is that you must have a general knowledge of the game. That’s not a problem for Moore. Her father Chris is an assistant baseball and softball coach with Bridge City.
“My love for baseball started as a kid thanks to my dad and his years of selfless service on the baseball field. Growing up on the field definitely had a huge impact on the woman I am today. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him.”
The group of twenty Darlings do most of the work at the Aggie home baseball games. There wide arrange of duties include guest services, fundraising, foul balls, batgirls, selling programs, working in the suites, and public relations and marketing.
Moore, a finance major, looks at the opportunity as a way to network with people while learning more about what goes on than the game itself.
The Diamond Darlings were created in 1972 when Willowdean Chandler, wife of former Texas A&M baseball coach Tom Chandler, created the team with the goal of supporting Aggie baseball. From that moment, the Diamond Darlings became the first organization led by women in Texas A&M. The Aggie season begins at home Feb. 14.
