The ladies took centerstage Monday as the basketball playoffs got underway.
Bridge City 68 Rusk 53
The Bridge City Lady Cards took on Rusk who got off to a fast start, leading 16-2 at one point. BC was O’fer in the first half from three. But they began to chip away and had a 35-33 lead at the half.
“Some jitters for sure,” said Head Coach Larry Sterling. “But they bounced back and really played team basketball. Offensively we had four in double figures and we had a great job on the top of our press with Nicole (Sasser) and Rylee Hebert.”
In the second half BC looked like the team in better shape as they continued to wear down the Lady Eagles (13-20) and forcing more turnovers.
For BC (32-3), Whitney Cunningham and Kaylee Britten had 11, Mia Sterling 10 and Sasser 10. Rebounds: Mia Sterling with 9, and Kennedy Campbell had 8 assists. Cards will play the winner between Wheatley and Liberty who play Tuesday in the 4AD2 playoffs.
