The City Council in Pinehurst has a special called meeting for Tuesday afternoon. The purpose of the meeting is to consider accepting the resignation of Dan Mohon as the mayor of Pinehurst.
Mohon was appointed as Pinehurst mayor in October 2019 to replace Pete Runnels who had resigned because of health reasons. It is believed Mohon is stepping down for the same reason as he has been battling cancer for several years. Mohon actually won another term as mayor during the General Election which was held November 3.
The City Council will discuss possible action to appoint a replacement to serve as mayor. Whoever is appointed would serve until the May 2021 municipal election in Pinehurst.
The called meeting is scheduled for 5:30 PM on Tuesday, November 24, but will be conducted as a teleconference. Citizens interested in listening to the meeting can call 1-(646)-749-3122 and then enter the access code of 799-198-341 followed by the # button.
