The City of Orange Economic Development Corporation has a new board member, Demetrius Moffett.
The Orange City Council Tuesday appointed Moffett to the seat previously held by Dean Granger. Granger, who has been president of the board for the past year, completed his term limits on the board. He had served four two-year terms.
The council re-appointed Gail Barnett to the board along with Mayor Larry Spears Jr. and Councilors Terrie Salter and Bill Mello. The EDC board has seven members with three, including the mayor, required to be city council members.
Economic Development Director Jay Trahan said Moffett, who works for CenterPoint Energy, has worked with the EDC for projects as part of his job. Moffett is also senior pastor at the Orange Church of God.
The council also presented Joe Love a certificate for serving on the city’s planning and zoning commission.
