Mildred Peters, age 76 died on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at her home in Hartburg, Texas with her daughter, Angela by her side. Services to honor Mildred’s life will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Dorman Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at King Cemetery. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 PM before the service on Saturday.
Mildred was one of six children, born June 10, 1941 in Austin, Texas to George and Opal Knapp. She along with her husband James :Sonny” Peters were a big part of the Hartburg community. She and a few dear friends of hers started the Peoples’ Volunteer Ambulance Service in the early 80’s. She had a heart of gold, you could always tell when she was in a room. Mildred loved spending time with all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially her sweet “Sally Sue”.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sonny Peters, two sons, JW Hays James R. Peters, a daughter Beverly Peters and a great granddaughter Alyvia,
Survivors include her daughter, Angela Jordan and her husband Shane of Orange, TX, son James Sonny Peters, Jr., of Deweyville, TX, daughter Julie Gadeberg and her husband Larry of Charleston, IL. Coray Peters, Shawnique Lout and husband Robert, Holly Bussell and husband Bryan, Brandi Johnson. Lacresia Hubbard, Angela Lout and seven other grandchildren. Twenty four great grandchildren that lit up her world. Two brothers, George Knapp and his wife Kitty of Austin, TX and Wayne Knapp of Deweyville, TX. One sister Gladys Peschka and husband Wayne of Bastrop, TX.
Pallbearers will be Scooter Hubbard, John Webb, Randy Burns, Lamont Woodford, Scott Wofford and Jordan Stone.
