Mildred was born on Saturday, November 23, 1935, in Dawsonville, Georgia to parents, Liller (Justus) and Frank Smith. She was a lifetime resident of Orange, Texas after moving from Mayport, Florida 45 years ago. Mildred was a very loving, good hearted woman who loved her family dearly. She was a Navy wife for 22 years all while serving proudly. Many times she had the task of packing up their young children and all of their things and moving them to the next military base that her husband, Bobby, was commissioned to serve at. She worked many places in her lifetime but the best job she ever had was being a mother. Mildred played softball and bowled with the military wives and hosted many social events. She was an excellent homeroom mom, little league mom and everything else she did for the kids. She was at every ball game her children played and once she even chartered a plane to watch her son play baseball out of town. She was truly, the June Cleaver of Mother’s. She always made homemade, beautiful and delicious cakes for all of the birthdays. Mildred was also known to be an excellent seamstress. Her pride and joy were her three grandchildren, Zachary, Madison and Taylor. She attended all of their dance recitals, FFA Livestock shows and doted on them always. Mildred was the “June Cleaver” of mothers and grandmothers. She was a strong believer of Christ and was a member of Old First Orange Baptist Church. Mildred was a wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will forever be loved and missed by all who knew her.
Mildred is preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Bobby Stewart; son, Nicky Stewart; brothers, Leroy Smith, James Smith, Johnny Smith and William Smith and sisters, Pauline Martin and Pearl Turner.
