
Mildred Anita Jones Wilson, a beloved resident of Orange, Texas left this world on July 1, 2024, after a life richly lived in service, kindness, and generosity.
Mildred was born in New Iberia, Louisiana to Naomi Alma Jones and John Pitre. She moved to Orange, Texas when she was in the tenth grade and graduated from M.B. North High School in 1966. She married Willie C. Wilson and to this union two daughters were born. Mildred attended Chenier Business College in Beaumont, Texas and gained employment with Entex in 1971 and worked there 33 years until her retirement in 2004.
After retirement, Mildred became a teacher’s aide at the now North Early Learning Center where she loved working with the young children, and she continued that work until her death.
In earlier years, she loved to make and paint ceramics and later developed a love for baking and decorating cakes. She also loved to travel the world with her family. She was a dedicated member of Salem United Methodist Church – Orange, Texas for more than 50 years where she faithfully served multiple ministries, chaired committees, and held many roles.
Mildred’s unwavering love and generosity knew no boundaries and were constants in her relationships with family and friends. Mildred had a great ability to encourage and uplift others and poured love into many people throughout the years.
Mildred was preceded in death by her mother, Naomi Alma Jones; father, John Pitre; and brother, Sandy Otis Walker.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory daughter, Patrice Wilson Washington (Malcolm); daughter, Carla Wilson Holmes (Michael); sister, Mary Anna Jones; nephew, Sidney Walker (Ashley); niece Samona Walker (Kadeem); and sister-in-law, Sandra Walker.
Mildred’s celebration of life will be Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Salem United Methodist Church – Orange, Texas 402 W. John Ave. Visitation is from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. The service will begin at 11:00 AM.
