Mike Gentry, 69, of Vidor died Sunday, January 17th, 2016 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Beaumont, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Mike was involved with Orangefield ISD for more than 30 years and retired as the Superintendent. He received his bachelors and masters degree at Lamar University in Beaumont. He was the UIL executive director for two school districts in the area. Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, January 21, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Mike is survived by his son Michael Gentry and his wife Debbie of Vidor, TX, daughter Cassandra Boone-Ruch and her husband Bradley of Katy, TX, sister Leatrus Henry of Vidor, TX, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
