Born in Orange, Texas, on April 25, 1944, he was the son of Pat Wilson and Hilda Juanita (Lowe) O’Brian. Michael lived a life marked by dedication, skill, and a deep love for his family and community. He devoted 30 years of his professional life to Dupont, retiring as an accomplished electrician. Prior to his successful career in electrical work, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he was stationed in Okinawa. His military service instilled in him qualities of discipline and leadership that he carried into all facets of his life. In his personal life, Michael was a man of many interests. He enjoyed calling Big Bingo at the nursing home and took immense pleasure in the great outdoors, engaging in hunting and fishing, shrimping, swimming in the lake with his grandchildren, and having “fire dances” with the girls around the fire pit he hand made himself. His hands-on approach extended to building projects around the home, showcasing his craftsmanship and creativity. Michael was also known for his meticulous care of his yard, where he found serenity and fulfillment. Family was the cornerstone of Michael’s life. He was a beloved grandfather, affectionately referred to as “Papa” by his grandchildren, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Michael was a devoted member of Old First Orange Baptist Church, where he formed meaningful relationships within his community. It was in Albany, Georgia, where he met the love of his life, Joyce. Their partnership was built on mutual respect, shared values, and a love that deepened through their 59 years together. Michael leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication to family, and commitment to his community that will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and community.
