United Way Director Maureen McAllister walked away with the most awards Thursday night at the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce Banquet held at the Expo Center.
United Way was recognized as the Non-Profit Community Service of the Year winner and McAllister, to her surprise, was announced as the Citizen of the Year. McAllister’s family also surprised her by coming out of the shadows once her name was called.
International Paper was recognized as the business winner of the Community Service Award. Kim Dickerson was named Ambassador of the Year.
Tad McKee of the Stark Foundation took the gavel from Joe Love and will be the new director of the chamber beginning January 1.
There was also a special recognition for First Responders in the greater Orange area for their service to the area, especially after Harvey.
