Orange County this week postponed the May city, school, and special district elections. Those elections will now be held during the national November election.
Some of the local entities were able to cancel their elections because the open positions drew no competing candidates.
The contested races affected by the postponement are:
Orange County Drainage District: Precinct 2 incumbent J.B. Arrington is facing Larry Ancelot. Precinct incumbent Randy Fuselier is running against James Scales.
Orange City Council: At-Large Position 6 with incumbent Paul Burch challenged by Charles Ray Thomas.
Pinehurst City Council: Mayor Dan Mohon is facing Troy Pierce.
Bridge City City Council: Place 2 incumbent Mike Reid is running against Kenneth Prosperie.
Bridge City School Board: Place 6 incumbent Michael C. Johnson challenged by Keith A. Jones. Place 7 incumbent Mark Anderson is facing Cory L. Mitchell.
The West Orange-Cove and Little Cypress-Mauriceville school districts canceled elections because of no contested races. Orangefield and Deweyville school districts regularly have board elections in November and have not had candidate filings at this time.
