Maria Carmen Simon, 70, of Orange, Texas, passed away on November 6, 2024, at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge.
Funeral services will be 10:00, Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange. Officiating will be Father Antony Paulose. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 11, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, with a rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m.
Born in Mexico, on December 5, 1953, she was the daughter of Juan Vasquez and Rafaela Guerra. Maria dedicated her professional life as a tax preparer for H&R Block, where she was known for her diligence and commitment to helping others. Maria was a loving wife and the best anyone could ask for. She cared deeply for her family and made sure that they always knew how much they were loved. Beyond her career and family, Maria had a variety of hobbies that brought her joy. She enjoyed solving puzzles and had a talent for crochet, creating beautiful pieces that many cherished. Maria also loved to spend time outdoors, getting lost in yard work, nurturing her garden as she nurtured her relationships. In the evenings, she found pleasure in watching movies, often sharing that time with her loved ones. A proud member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Maria found community and solace in her faith, which was an integral part of her life. Maria will be remembered for her loving spirit, her dedication to family, and her ability to find happiness in the simple things in life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan Vasquez and Rafaela Guerra; brother, Robert Vasquez; and sister, Estela Cepeda.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Brian Simon; daughters, Pamela Simon, and Anita Simon and life partner Brian Bettwy; nieces and nephews, Stacy Saucedo, Grace Gallardo, Janice Chavez, Andrew Gonzales, and Bailey Gonzales; siblings, Ruben Vasquez, Elsa Gonzales, Juan Vasquez, Jr., and Rogelio Vasquez; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
